Potti Sreeramulu Telugu University is one of the few language universities in the country. Recognized by the University Grants Commission (UGC) this university was formed with the objective of serving the cause of telegu people within and outside the state. For this purpose the state government merged Sahitya, Sangeetha, Nataka, Nritya and Lalitha Kala Academies, International Telugu Institute and Telugu Bhasha Samithi into this university. Potti Sreeramulu Telugu University caters to training and research in  language & literature, history & culture, fine arts & performing arts, religion & philosophy of the telegu speaking population. The university's centre for distance learning offers Bachelors and Master courses of study in arts along with diploma and certificate courses fo study. Telegu university library has rich and at the same time rare collection of titles in telugu language, literature, linguistics, fine arts, astrology, journalism, culture, folk arts. Potti Sreeramulu Telugu University has five campuses in the state of Tamilnadu.
