Bharat Phool Singh Mahila Vishwavidyalaya holds the esteemed distinction of being the first women's university in north India. Established by the Government of Haryana this university has and continues to aim for women emancipation and empowerment with a mandate to provide quality education to women belonging to rural areas. The university offers under graduate and post graduate courses in faculties of engineering, law, management, commerce, pharmacy, applied sciences, arts & humanities and social sciences. In order to promote research the university has also started offering PhD courses in varied specializations. BPS Women's university is also the only residential multi-facility university offering programmes in engineering and medicine. A holistic model for higher education BPS is also recognized for its Center for Society University Interface and Research(CSUIR) and Front Line Demonstration Centre. This varsity is also the youngest university in the country to be conferred with the Academic Staff College ward by the University Grants Commission (UGC).
