Indian Institute of Technology Patna is an autonomous institute for education and research in the fields of science and engineering &technology. IITP is one of the among the eight new IIT colleges established in India in 2011. This institution offers undergraduate B.Tech degree in disciplines of computer science and engineering, electrical engineering, mechanical, civil and chemical engineering. The institute's post-graduate programs include Master of Technology (M.Tech) and Ph.D. courses. Admission to undergraduate programs is done through IIT JEE while admission to post graduate programs is done through GATE score. The institute has laboratories to conduct research in various disciplines of engineering, pure sciences, applied sciences and humanities. IIP is also known for its research programs and pioneering efforts in the same. This institute is the first IIT to offer M.Tech program in nanotechnology. IIT Patna is also known for its international collaborations that have provided opportunities to B. Tech, M.Tech and Ph.D. students and faculty from IIT Patna to travel to different countries and develop their research skills and interact with people working in different areas of science and technology. Another distinctive feature of this institute is its National Knowledge Network (NKN) that provides high-speed core networking for knowledge related institutions in India. Training and Placement Cell of IITP offers placement and training assistance and support.
