The renowned Dr. Shakuntala Misra National Rehabilitation University is located in Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh. This is the first university of its kind which provides the quality education to the physically challenged students in the barrier – free environment. The Dr. Shakuntala Misra National Rehabilitation University has seven faculties namely commerce, special education, law, music and fine arts, computer science and IT, science and technology and arts. About 21 departments under these faculties are running several courses. The university affiliates such institutions of the state who apart from routine courses also run the courses approved by Rehabilitation Council of India, New Delhi.
The Dr. Shakuntala Misra National Rehabilitation University was set up by the government of UP in the year 2008. It is amazing to know that in this university, about 50% seats in the various courses are reserved for the physically challenged students. The university has the barrier – free campus spread over 131 acres of land with well – developed infrastructure. The Dr. Shakuntala Misra National Rehabilitation University is engaged in promoting inter – disciplinary and multi – disciplinary studies. The main focus of the university is on mainstreaming and empowerment of PWDs through the best quality education, training and skill development.
