Govind Ballabh Pant University of Agriculture and Technology Patnagar is the first agriculture university in India. inaugurated by Pandit Nehru in 1960 this university was renamed in 1972. Declared the best among state universities in India this university is considered as a harbinger of the Green Revolution in India. Affiliated to the Indian Council of Agricultural Research GBPUAT is an non-affilating university and its academic activities are organized through its nine constituent colleges (faculties),which run large undergraduate (UG) programs. All Masters and PhD students are part of College of Post Graduate Studies, however they have strong association with one of the other colleges as per their academic major. The research activities of the institute concentrate on agriculture and engineering. This university follows trimester system of study as such minimum duration for UG programmes is four years (eight semesters)except BVSc&AH (10 semesters, 5-year). All Masters  programmes are of two years duration
(four semesters). PhD programmes are of six semesters. Other academic features of the university include CGPA system of grading and 100 internal evaluation.

 Admission to College of Technology is made through Joint Entrance Examination, JEE (Main)conducted by Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) and subsequent counselling by Uttarakhand Technical University (UTU), Dehradun.

Admission to College of Technology in MCA Programme in made through Entrance Exam Conducted by Admission Committee of the University.
