Sree Chitra Thirunal Institute of Medical Sciences and Technology Poojapura Trivandrum is an institute of national importance personally funded by then Maharaja of Travancore Maharajah Sree Chithira Thirunal Balarama Varma for the benefit of the people of Kerala.This autonomous institute of national importance offers  postdoctoral, doctoral and postgraduate courses in medical specialties, public health, nursing, basic sciences and health care technology. The courses includes MPH, DM Neurology, DM Cardiology, DM Neuroradiology, DM Anaesthesia, MCh Neurosurgery, MCh Cardiothoracic Surgery, MCh Vascular Surgery, M.Tech Clinical Engineering (joint program with IIT Madras and CMC Vellore), MPhil in Biomedical Technology, diploma in Nursing, Cardiac Laboratory Technology, Neuro Technology, Advanced Medical Imaging, Blood Banking Technology, Post DM/MCh Fellowships and Ph.D. in bio-medical streams. Apart from teaching and research SCTIMST is also engaged in patient care. This institute provides tertiary care of cardiovascular and neurological diseases. This institute has also been accredited with the  advanced neurological therapies in India, like epilepsy surgery and deep brain stimulation.
