Yashwantrao Chavan Maharashtra Open University YCMOU is a UGC recognized university formed by an act of the state government. YCMOU is the fifth open university in India. A member of  Association of Indian Universities, Association of Commonwealth Universities, Asian Association of Open Universities, and Commonwealth of Learning, Canada this university offers online and offline programs of study. Headquartered in Nashik this university provides support to its students by study centers throughout the state of Maharashtra. A pioneer in distance education YCMOU is known for the innovation of Mobile Vans that function as moving study centers, satellite-based education and video on demand. An extension of its role as a distance educator this university also offers special programs to jail inmates and visually impaired.
