The renowned veterinary university i.e. Sri Venkateswara Veterinary University was the result of efforts during the period, 1955 to 2006 and was established by Act No 18 of 2005 to support education and services in the fields of Veterinary Science, Fishery Science and Dairy Technology in the State of Andhra Pradesh. Honorable Chief Minister Dr. Y. S. Rajasekhar Reddy of Andhra Pradesh inaugurated Sri Venkateswara Veterinary University in Tirupati and the university started running autonomously from 01-4-2006. To Strengthen Veterinary education in the State, government establishes three Veterinary Colleges, the first at Rajendranagar (1946), the second at Bapatla (1955) and the third at Gannavaram (1998). There are various Colleges under this University and all of the colleges of the University are serving in the fields of the veterinary sciences by providing graduation programs up to doctorate level.
The mission of the University is to facilitate continuous growth and development of domestic animals and allied sectors by building skilled human resources for generating and developing situation-specific, economical and easily adoptable technologies. Sri Venkateswara Veterinary University committed to Develop and facilitates the appropriate human resources to meet the upcoming demands at the National and International level.

The Sri Venkateswara Veterinary University has prescribed its own admission procedure which is strictly followed at the time of admission. The candidates who would like to get enrolled in the Sri Venkateswara Veterinary University will have to go through the entrance test which is the qualifying examination for the university.
