Shivaji University Kolhapur named after the great founder of the maratha empire Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj this university is a UGC recognized public university. At present this university affiliates more than 260 colleges in districts of Kolhapur, Sangli and Satara. Shivaji university imparts education in 10 major faculties of Arts, Social Science, Science, Commerce, Education, Fine Arts, Law, Medicine, Ayurvedic Medicine, Engineering and Technology.
