Nava Nalanda Mahavihara was formed with the objective of reviving Nalanda the ancient seat of buddhist learning. A pursuit that the university continues to follow faithfully to this very day. This university offers B.A. (honors), certificate and diploma course in the ancient language of pali. NNM also offers MA course in subjects of literature and Buddhism through Tibetan, Sanskrit, Chinese, Mongolian, Japanese and other Asian languages.Eligible applicants for admission, both Indian and foreign, have to qualify in the Admission/Proficiency Test conducted by the Mahavihara for admission in Certificate, Diploma, B. A. Hons., M.A., Ph.D. and other courses. Merit scholarships are provided to deserving meritous students of the university.  Efforts are now being made by university for providing serious independent and collaborative research. Future courses on Vipassana and Buddhist Studies (Applied Buddhism), a one year research methodology course, language courses in Thai, Singhalese, Mongolian, Burmese, Vietnamese, and Cambodian, based on demand, and a course pertaining to Buddhism in light of modern science are being planned. There are also plans to start computer courses and courses related with Cultural Tourism related with Buddhist sites.

Admission Procedure for M. A. Course in Pali and B. A. (Hons.) Course in Pali:-

 

Admission is done through the proficiency test conducted by the university.

 

Admission Procedure for M. A. Course in English:-

 

The course is open to all such applicants who have obtained B.A. Hons. Or equivalent degree in English from any Indian University or any recognized foreign University. The students of other disciplines may also apply for admission. Preference will be given to the holding of B. A. Honours in the concerned subject. Nava Nalanda Mahavihara conducts a proficiency test for admission in this course.
