The University of Kerala formerly known as the University of Travancore is an affiliating university located in Trivandrum in the state of Kerala. Kerala university comprises of 16 faculties of study and 41 departments of teaching and research with 81 affiliated colleges.The university has study centres in areas such as Nanotechnology, Kerala Studies, Bioinformatics, Women's Studies, Learning Difficulties, Sree Narayana Studies, Gandhian Studies etc. Some of these centres have teaching programmes (Certificate/Diploma/Masters/Mphil) and many offer PhD programmes. UOK is also known for its research programs and centers which are spread all through the state. The University Grants Commission has identified the university as one of the 26 institutions selected for promotion of India Studies by foreign students.
