Indian Institute of Technology, Bhubaneswar is public university for the study of engineering and technology. Established in 2011 IIT-BHU is among the new IIT colleges to be formed in the country. At  present this university functions at its transit campus and the permanent campus is under construction. Situtated in an education hub several universities or research institutes are either present or are being established in the region. In addition to this IITB is also the first IIT in India to establish a separate campus conducting marine research and providing educational facilities for undergraduate and post graduate courses of study. At present this university offers B.Tech (honors) in civil, electrical and mechanical engineering and M.Tech- Ph.D. programmes. The university is divided into schools and not departments for promoting interdisciplinary research. Admission to undergraduate and postgraduate programs is done on the basis of JEE and GATE score respectively. Apart from academics IIT-BHU is also known for its student life and culture. The career development cell of IIT Bhubaneswar provides students with training and placement assistance.
