Until the inception of Gujarat Technological University (GTU) Gujarat University was the main officiating institute for technical colleges in the state. In order to ensure more efficient and systematic imparting of technical education, GTU was formed. Gujarat Technological University (International Innovative University) is a state-wide institution which affiliates many engineering, pharmacy and management colleges in the western districts of the state of Gujarat. Recognized by the University Grants Commission (UGC) GTU recognizes colleges for diploma, degree and master programs of engineering, pharmacy courses for bachelors and masters degree, masters and management courses and MCA. Known for its student support services this university has truly lived up to its motto of "expanding knowledge" which has it done both efficiently and systematically.
