Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology of Jammu is a state level university dedicated to study and research in agricultural science and technology. The university inherited few assets and staff deployed at various stations and sub stations from erstwhile SKUAST(J&K) to carry on the mission of agriculture research and development. This university offers graduate and post graduate programs in subjects of agriculture, veterinary science & animal husbandry and a Ph.D. course in agriculture. SKUAST also offers basic agriculture and horticultural courses for candidates who have completed their matriculation. An entrance test is conducted for admission to these courses of study. Research in SKUAST-J is being carried out by the faculty placed under Faculty of Agriculture at Chatha, Faculty of Veterinary Sciences and Animal Husbandry, RS. Pura, School of Biotechnology Chatha and by the scientists working at different research stations/sub-stations/centers, spread over various agro-climatic zones. The Directorate of Extension undertakes effective circulation of latest technical information and technologies developed by scientist to farmers and entrepreneurs. This university is also known for its village visit programs. The University's placement cell invites companies for on-campus interviews and provides training and placement assistance to students
