 University of Pune (formerly known as University of Poona) is a UGC recognized state university and one of the oldest public universities in India. Spread over a sprawling campus of 411 acres Pune University has 46 academic departments and has numerous affiliated colleges, departments, and research institutes, which are primarily located in Pune. Popularly referred to as the "Ofxord of the East" PU has 307 recognized research institutes and 612 affiliated colleges offering graduate and under-graduate courses.
