Apart from being one of the oldest of universities in the country, Andhra University is also the first to be conceived as a residential cum teaching cum affiliating university in the country devoted mainly to post graduate training and research. Recognized by University Grants Commission (UGC) and accredited by NAAC the university offers 313 courses in the faculties of arts, commerce, management, science & technology, engineering, law, pharmacy and education. Presently the university has 636 affiliate colleges under its territorial jurisdiction.
