The National Centre for Biological Sciences is a research center dedicated to research in biological sciences. A part of Tata Institute of Fundamental Research (TIFR) and Department of Atomic Energy of the Government of India this institute is engaged in basic and interdisciplinary research in frontier areas of biology. NCBS offers post doctoral, Ph.D., Integrated Ph.D., MD- Ph.D. program and M.Sc programs of study. The TIFR Nationwide Entrance Examination for Biology is also called the Joint Graduate Entrance Examination for Biology and Interdisciplinary Life Sciences (JGEEBILS) is conducted for admission. NCBS engages in a number of collaborative initiatives such as  Institute for Stem Cell Biology and Regenerative Medicine (inStem) and the Centre for Cellular and Molecular Platforms (C-CAMP). Along with inStem and C-CAMP NCBS form the Bangalore Bio-cluster bringing together fundamental research, transitional studies and technological development.  Boasting on an experienced and outstanding faculty NCBS is known for its student support services and central facilities.
