Rajiv Gandhi University Arunachal Pradesh is a UGC recognized public university and the oldest university in the state. Accredited as a "central university" under Ministry of Human Resource Development of the Government of India. The teaching and research programmes of the University are designed with a view to play a positive role in the socio-economic and cultural development of the State.  The University offers Under Graduate, Post-Graduate, M. Phil and Ph.D. programmes in faculties of education, languages, social science, basic sciences,environmental sciences, life sciences and management. The Department of Education also offers B.Ed. programme. At present there are 15 universities affiliated to Rajiv Gandhi National University. RGU is also actively engaged in research activities with financial support from UGC and other funding agencies. In spite of infrastructural constraints, the university has been maintaining its academic excellence. This  university has made significant progress in teaching, research, innovations in curriculum development and developing infrastructure.
