The renowned Karnataka Folklore University is one of the top universities in Asia which provides advanced teaching in research and learning opportunities to the students of Folklore. Establishment of this university has added a new dimension and approach to the higher education in the state. The Karnataka Folklore University provides an opportunity for the higher education and also to organize advanced research in Folklore studies. The university is set up with the mission to establish three important inter – related productive organs of the university i.e. Adhyayanaanga, Samsodhanaanga and Prasaaraanga. Another mission of the university is to provide the disciplinary status to the folklore courses.
The Karnataka Folklore University is established with the sole purpose to offer the greater platform to the Folklore. The Karnataka Folklore University is officially inaugurated by the chief minister of on 16 June 2012. The university is situated in Gotagodi, Karnataka. The credit of establishment of this university for the Folklore studies directly goes to the government of Karnataka. This place where this university is situated is located exactly at the mid part of Karnataka. The land is rich in natural beauty and ground water. Also, this place is quite close to the national highway, railway station, and airport.
