Manipur University is an affiliating teaching-cum- affiliating university with territorial jurisdiction over the whole state of Manipur. At present this university has 72 affiliated colleges and one constituent college ie. Manipur Institute of Technology (MIT). This university offers undergraduate, postgraduate, certificate, diploma, post graduate diploma and Ph.D. courses of study in faculties of arts, commerce, science, management and computer application. Apart from this the university has established area study centres like, Myanmar Studies, Manipur Studies, Women's Studies, Human Rights and Duties Education, Study of Social Exclusion and Inclusive Policy, Educational Multimedia Research. The university would soon establish Centre of Southeast Asian Studies.
