The Indira Kala Sangeet Vishwavidyalaya is the oldest university in the state and located at the Khairagarh, Chhattisgarh. This university is inaugurated by the late Priya Darshani Indira Gandhi. The university is set up with the objective to offer instructions in all the branches of music and fine arts. Also, the Indira Kala Sangeet Vishwavidyalaya is engaged in making provisions for research and better advancement of the education in the music and fine arts.
The Indira Kala Sangeet Vishwavidyalaya was inaugurated by the late Priya Darshani Indira Gandhi on 14 October 1956. The university is situated in the central part of India in Chhattisgarh in Khairagarh. This place is surrounded by the three rivers and provides a tranquil and serene atmosphere to the artists. The campus of the Indira Kala Sangeet Vishwavidyalaya presents a rare example of brotherhood and fraternity. The university is well – connected by roads, rails, and airports. The serenity of the Khairagarh adds the musical and academic fervor of the university. Besides mid – April and mid – June, the climate is generally pleasant here.
