Indian Institute of Technology, Mandi is one among the newly formed IIT colleges in India. Mentored by the IIT Roorkee this university presently functions from its transit campus at Mandi town in Himachal Pradesh. At present, IITM offers B.Tech programmes in three disciplines. Like all the other IIT's admissions to these programmes is done through Joint Entrance Examination (JEE). The institute  offers MS programs in fields of science and engineering and PhD programs in fields of engineering and basic sciences.  Admission to these courses is based on GATE/NET or equivalent exam score. Student activities at the university can be broadly classified as technical, cultural and sports. Apart from unique course curriculum for all courses of study this university is also known for its  Career and Placement Cell (CnP) that provides aspirants necessary training and placement opportunities.
