The Calicut University is the largest university in Kerala. It is the second university to be established in Kerala with the aim to nurture excellence in research and education in the catchment areas of the Northern Kerala. Emphasis is laid down on creating quality human resource and enhances productive research which is beneficial for both wider humanity and local community. The Calicut University has approximately 30 PG departments and 373 affiliated colleges. Administration through E – Governance and computerization of the university examination forms the Calicut University as the first digital University of the state.
The Calicut University was set up through a government plan of bifurcating the Kerala University. It is established in the year 1968. The university campus is located at the Tenhipalam, 24km South of Calicut. The campus of the university is quite amazing and the pleasant environment enhances the capabilities of the students. The university has set up extension centers in Thrissur, Calicut, and Vetakara.
