Goa University, a center for higher education in the state is built on Taleigao plateau overlooking the beautiful arabian sea and the picturesque shores of Dona Paula. Over the past three decades the University of Goa has essayed an important role in the development of quality academic and professional education in the state. The state's only university GU has about 53 affiliate colleges mostly for under-graduate and post-graduate courses of study. GU offers graduate and post-graduate courses of study in faculties of arts, commerce, science, design, engineering, education, law, management, medicine and science. This university is also known for its integrated, PhD and M.Phil programs.
