Hemwati Nandan Bahuguna Garhwal University previously known as Garwhal university is a UGC recognized central university located in the town of Srinagar of the state of Uttarakhand. Named after Hemwati Nandan Bahuguna  this university is a residential cum affiliating university. At present the university offers a variety of higher courses of learning in as many as 10 faculties of study. HNBGU as an institution is gifted with state of art facilities and the best teaching and academic staff available in the region in its premier institutions.  Numbered among the 10 largest universities in the country this university has three campuses with more than 180 affiliated colleges providing education to 7 of the 13 districts of the state. For its importance and acheivements the university was accorded with the rank of central university in 2009 by the Government of India.
