Uttar Banga Krishi Viswavidyalaya known in english as North Bengal Agricultural University is a UGC recognized agricultural university situated in the region of Cooch Behar West Bengal. This university has faculties of horticulture, agriculture and agriculture engineering. UBKU offers graduate and post graduate courses of study in faculties of agriculture, horticulture and forestry and also offers PhD programs in all faculties of study. The northern part of West Bengal is known for its diverse natural resources and low productivity and subsistence farming. In this case the university's extension service department approved by ICAR is tasked with the responsibility of developing and improving agricultural technologies and resources in the region. Despite inadequate manpower and infrastructural facilties the teaching, research and extension activities of Uttar Banga Krishi Viswavidyalaya is noteworthy.
