Institute of Mathematical Sciences IMSc also known as Matscience is a national institution for fundamental research in disciplines of mathematical and physical sciences: theoretical computer science, mathematics, and theoretical physics. Located in Chennai this institute is mainly funded by the Department of Atomic Energy (DAE). This institute has a graduate research program to which a group of students are admitted each year to work towards a Ph.D. degree. IMSc hosts scientists at the post-doctoral level and supports a visiting scientist program in areas of research in the institute. IMSc hosts national and international scientific meetings every year. It has many public outreach programs, especially connecting with Teachers and students in schools, colleges and universities. The Institute maintains a student hostel and accommodations for long-term visitors, married students and post-doctoral fellows, and the institute guest house. IMSc has its own faculty housing in Tiruvanmiyur near the seashore.
