How to Apply?

03. Send  your high school transcript showing at least three years of grades.
04. All freshman applicants are required to submit official test scores. If you are applying as a transfer student, it is recommended that you submit these scores.
05.Letters of recommendation: Submit two letters of recommendation: one from a teacher and one from a guidance counselor. If you are applying as a transfer student, at least one Academic Evaluator recommendation is required.
06. Send your English Language Test (PTE Academics, TOEFL, or IELTS) Scores. If your native language is not English, you must fulfill our English language requirement. (If your native language is English or you qualify to have the English language requirement waived, please contact Admissions at admit@admissions.rochester.edu.)
07.Submit the International Financial Support (IFS) form. To be eligible for admission, you must demonstrate the ability to cover the estimated cost of at least one year of attendance. For more information, visit our ‘Paying for Rochester’ tab.
08.Interview with an Admissions representative (on or off campus) (highly recommended)
09. Check Your Application Status: Check your application status to make sure Admissions has received everything.

  • Registrar’s Report :This form is to be completed by a dean or other college official who has access to your academic record.

01. River Campus: River Campus is the epicenter of the university's academic and administrative functions. The main academic buildings in this campus are designed in greek revival style. The Eastmen Quad or Eastmen Quadrangle is considered as the best landscaped area in the entire university. Buildings in the river campus are marked with classrooms, officies and spaces as well as common areas and residential halls.

02. The University of Rochester Medical Center (URMC): URMC is the primary campus for medical education and research and is also known for its main patient care facility. RMC also houses the School of Nursing and a variety of research centers, including the Wilmot Cancer Center, the Aab Institute of Biomedical Sciences, and the Clinical and Translational Sciences Institute.
Graduate student housing is provided at 4 locations near the URMC and Mount Hope. It should be noted that these facilities also house some select River campus, non-traditional students who have been deemed too old for traditional housing.

03. Eastman School of Music: Eastman School of Music is situated on its own campus in downtown Rochester with performance facilities like the Eastern Theatre and Sibley Music Library, classrooms and the Eastman Student Living Center.

04. South Campus: South Campus is located in Brighton and houses the  Laboratory for Laser Energetics, the Center for Optics Manufacturing, the Center for Optoelectronics and Imaging, and the now defunct Nuclear Structure Research Laboratory (NSRL). Graduate student housing is also provided at the Whipple Park complex.

Housing is also provided in the River Road campus which features a park like setting with large wooded and lawn areas, playgrounds, areas for gardens and low street noise.

University of Rochester New York Student Life and Activities:-

The 200 active student organizations form an important part of University of Rochester New York Student Life and Activities. Rochester's capella ensembles are among the best in the country. Freshman and Sophomores are required to live on-campus and two thirds of juniors and more than half of seniors chose to live on campus. Each campus of the university is equipped with students residences . The Students Association (SA) is the primary student governing body and includes most of the student groups at UR.
 
University of Rochester's athletics teams are known by the nickname "yellowjackets." They participate in Division III of the NCAA and the University Athletic Association and Liberty Leagues. The university sports men teams in  in baseball, basketball, cross country, football, golf, soccer, swimming and diving, tennis, and track and field. On the women's side, UR sponsors teams in basketball, cross country, field hockey, lacrosse, soccer, rowing, softball, swimming and diving, tennis, track and field, and volleyball.

UR campuses have their own university sponsored system of buses, shuttles which provide free transportation. U of R is also a participant of the Zip Car program which allows students to rent cars or an hourly or daily basis.

The university is also known for its various student traditions:
Artawake: A day for music and dance.
Boar's Head Dinner: An annual event conducted since 1934.
Convocation: Celebrates the start of the academic year and brings students, faculty and staff together.
Dandelion Day: Informally as D-Day, the last date in the spring semester.
Mela: Annual event held late in the Spring semester celebrating south asian culture and dance.
Meliora Weekend: An event celebrated early in October combining class reunions, homecoming, family weekend, and a regatta.
Pillow Fight: Annually organized at the academic quad on the conclusion of spring semester.
Wilson Day: Celebrated as a Day of community service.
Winterfest Weekend: Takes place early in the second semester and helps celebrate the snowy Rochester winters.
Yellowjacket Weekend: occurs at the beginning of the fall semester and is a celebration of school spirit.
