Sainik School, Satara is a purely residential school for boys. The medium of instruction is English. It is affiliated to Central Board of Secondary Education and is a member of Indian Public Schools Conference (IPSC). The school prepares boys for entry into the National Defense Academy, Pune and other military academies as well as for other walks of life. It was the first Sainik School amongst a chain of 24 such schools established in the country with the aim of preparing boys academically, mentally and physically for entry into the National Defence Academy and other Defence Academies.
Admissions:
The admission is given for class VI and class IX only. Girls are not admitted in this school. The entrance examination is held for admission to class VI & IX. Admissions are made strictly in order of merit only in classes VI and IX.
15% of the total seats are reserved for Scheduled Castes and 7.5% seats for Scheduled Tribes. Out of the remaining, 67% of the seats will be reserved for boys of Maharashtra State. Balance 33% left over of seats will be thrown open to boys from other States and Union Territories in the ratio of their male population. Any unutilized seats in this category will be merged with home State seats.
25% of the seats are reserved for children of service personnel including ex-servicemen.
