Given below are details on Pune University PhD Admission 2023-24 Notification with dates, its eligibility criteria and requirements. The University of Pune offers research programs in different subjects and interdisciplinary areas leading to degree of Doctor of Philosophy. Selection for Pune University PhD Admission is based on the written test conducted by the university. However candidates who have qualified for national level entrance tests and fellowship are exempted from appearing for the entrance test. Selected candidates will work in a recognized place of research that include university departments, research institutes and affiliated colleges affiliated by the university.
Eligibility for admission to Ph. D. Programme:-
Candidates have a Master's degree or a professional degree declared equivalent to the Master's degree by the corresponding statutory regulatory body, with at least 55% marks in aggregate or its equivalent grade 'B' in the UGC 7-point scale (or an equivalent grade in a point scale wherever grading system is followed) or an equivalent degree from a foreign educational institution accredited by an Assessment and Accreditation Agency which is approved, recognized or authorized by an authority, established or incorporated under a law in its home country or any other statutory authority in that country for the purpose of assessing, accrediting or assuring quality and standards of educational institutions.
A relaxation of 5% of marks, from 55% to 50%, or an equivalent relaxation of grade, shall be allowed for those belonging to reserved categories/Differently Abled and other categories of candidates as per policies of the Government of Maharashtra prescribed from time to time, or for those who had obtained their Master's degree prior to 19th September, 1991. The eligibility marks of 55% (or an equivalent grade in a point scale wherever grading system is followed) and the relaxation of 5% to the categories mentioned above are permissible based only on the qualifying marks without including the grace mark procedures.
Candidates who have cleared the M.Phil. course work with at least 55% marks in aggregate or its equivalent grade 'B' in the UGC 7-point scale (or an equivalent grade in a point scale wherever grading system is followed) and successfully completing the M.Phil. Degree shall be eligible to proceed to do research work leading to the Ph. D. Degree in the same institution in an integrated programme. A relaxation of 5% of marks, from 55% to 50o/o, or an equivalent relaxation of grade, shall be allowed for those belonging to reserved categories/Differently Abled and other categories of candidates as per policies of the Government of Maharashtra prescribed from time to time.
M. Phil. student of SPPU whose M.Phil. dissertation has been evaluated and the viva voce is pending may be admiued to the Ph.D. programme.
Candidates possessing a Degree considered equivalent to M.Phil. Degree of an Indian institution, from a foreign educational institution accredited by an Assessment and Accreditation Agency which is approved, recognized or authorized by an authority, established or incorporated under a law in its home country or any other statutory authority in that country for the purpose of assessing, accrediting or assuring quality and standards of educational institutions.
The Candidates fulfilling at least one of the following conditions will be exempted from Entrance Examination:
i. Candidates qualified in UGC-NET (Including JRF)UGC CSIR NET (Including JRF)/SLET/GATE (valid score) or teacher fellowship holders will be exempted from the Entrance Test for Ph.D. programme.
ii. Candidates who have passed M. Phil. Programme of the Savitribai Phule Pune University will be exempted from the Entrance Test for Ph.D. programme.
Savitribai Phule Pune University Ph.D Entrance Test 2023 Pattern -
Entrance Test Paper consists of 2 parts -
a) Research Methodology - 50 marks
b) Subject Specific - 50 marks
Total - 100 marks
Total - 100 Questions
All questions shall be with multiple choices, each correct answer carries 1 mark. No negative marking system.
Standard of passing -
General Category - 50% marks
Reserved Category - 45% marks
Candidate shall be admited to Ph.D Programme by two stage process through -
a) Entrance Examination, which shall be a qualifying test. The Entrance Examination will be of 100 marks with multiple choice tye questions.
b) Personal Interview of candidates qualitfing in Entrance Test / Candidates exempeted from Entrance Examination, to be conducted as per procedure prescribed in due course.
