Nalanda Open University was formed with the objective of providing educational opportunities for those unable to take up formal education. NOU is recognised by the Distance Education Council (DEC),University Grants Commission (UGC) and Minstry of Human Resource Development of the Government of India. The university uses print medium (correspondence courses), personal contact programmes, study centers and mass media for its distance education programmes. Nalanda Open university is known for its flexible rules in terms of admission. NOU offers graduate and post graduate courses in faculties of arts, commerce, science, education, computer application. Apart from this DDE also offers a host of post graduate diploma and certificate courses.
