Promoted in the year 1965, Sri Meenakshi Government Arts College for Women, is a women's general degree college affiliated with Madurai Kamaraj University. The college offers 13 Under Graduate and 7 Post Graduate courses. It is one among the six Government colleges where the Satellite Interactive Remote Terminal has been installed. The college was started by the government of Tamil Nadu with the exclusive aim of the upliftment of the women of Madurai.
