Model Engineering College established in the year 1989 is the first self-financing college to be established by the Government of Kerala under the aegis of the Institute of Human Resource Development for Electronics, IHRDE (now IHRD) and the first to be affiliated to CUSAT (Cochin University of Science And Technology). It aims of conducting high standards of education in the field of engineering. 
The college conducts undergraduate and post graduate engineering programmes in various disciplines. It was featured the 28th among the top 50 Government Engineering Colleges in India and has been selected for financial assistance by TEQIP (Technical Education Quality Improvement Programme), a World Bank Project.
 

Admissions:
Applicants will get admissions to this college on the basis of valid scores of the KEEE and JEE Main entrance examination. Candidates need to fill the form along with the entrance marks. 
Along with the scores, candidates should have passed Higher Secondary Examination, Kerala, or Examinations recognized as equivalent thereto, with 50 % marks in Mathematics separately, and 50 % marks in Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry/ Bio-technology/ Computer Science / Biology put together.

Facilities:

The institute has campus with state of art infrastructure and well-equipped modern amenities. It has facilities such as well maintained has approximately 16000 volumes of books and 60 journals, computer labs, air conditioned classrooms, etc. The college also provides separate hostel facility for boys and girls.

The Placement Cell of Govt. Model Engineering College is a fully student coordinated body which works under the guidance of the Principal and Placement Cell Officer. The cell is responsible for organizing all the placement activities in the college from contacting the prospective employers to providing all the necessary requirements during the placement drive. Many leading companies of the country visit the campus for recruitment process.
