The Institute of Road and Transport Technology (IRTT) is an engineering institution located in Chithode, run by the Transport Department of the government of Tamil Nadu and listed under category I colleges by the Directorate of Technical Education since its inception in the year 1984.

It was established as an automobile research-oriented engineering college and is affiliated with Anna University, Coimbatore.

The institute offers four year undergraduate engineering courses in Automobile, Civil, CSE, ECE, EEE, IT and Mechanical Engineering, as well as a two-year postgraduate ME (Structural Engineering) and a three-year postgraduate MCA course.
 


Admissions:

Candidates who wish to take admission in the college can enroll their name through offline process. Prospectus cum application form will be available at the college office.

A mere pass in HSC or its equivalent with the minimum average percentage in the relevant subjects or A pass in any one of the HSC (Vocational Stream) prescribed for B.E Degree admissions or any other equivalent qualification approved by the State Board of Technical Education and Training / Higher Secondary Board of Tamilnadu / Anna University for Engineering Admissions.

The management seats are allocated to the children of the transport corporation employees. Counselling for the management quota is conducted at Taramani, Chennai.

A Separate placement section is functioning to arrange for campus interviews and other placement works under the guidance of Associate Professor, Mechanical Engineering Department. Every Year above 90% of students is placed in various companies. At IRT Tech, each department has placement representative and a student cell coordinator.

The placement Cell maintains a rich alumni database through which the students keep themselves updated of the happenings in the corporate area.
