Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Guwahati is the sixth Indian Institute of Technology, established in the year 1994. The institute is basically known for its excellent technical training to those students who aspire of become an engineer in their future.

IIT Guwahati offers four years full time Under Graduate course of B.Tech (Bachelor of Technology) with specializations in different branches such as Civil Engineering, Computer Science Engineering, Electronics & Communication Engineering, Electrics & Electronics Engineering and Electronics & Instrumentation Engineering. The college is also known for providing Post Graduate programme of M.Tech (Master of Technology).

The most important thing about the institute is that it is located on the northern banks of Brahmaputra in small town of Guwahati i.e. Amingaon. The aesthetically designed IIT Guwahati campus has a stimulating atmosphere, conducive to all round development of a participant. The institute has a huge library with a collection of over 96000 books, textbooks and reference books. The Institute has highly qualified and experienced teachers with reputation in their areas of specialization. It has well equipped laboratories, sufficient books and periodicals in the library and fleet of buses for transportation. The college also offers separate hostel facility for boys and girls.
