Tripura University is the main public university in the state of Tripura. Recognized by the University Grants Commission (UGC) this is the state's first academic institution of higher learning with a rich academic heritage. At present, Tripura University provides post-graduate courses in sixteen subjects while the various Departments, Directorates and Centres within it provide 38 degree courses. All twenty four general and technical colleges, within the state, are affiliated with Tripura University. The University maintains the library especially in 28 major and inter-disciplinary subjects. It serves students, research scholars, faculty members and participants of the various programs and also other organizations through the inter-library loan system and public consultation. This is also one of the richest educational libraries in the state. A great place for learning and research this university has acheived sucess due to its strong commitment to excellence. At present the university's directorate of distance education offers BA, MA, B.Ed and DCA (Diploma in Computer application) course through distance mode.
