 Tamilnadu Dr M G R Medical University also known by the acronym TDMGRMU is UGC recognized government medical university situated in Chennai, Tamilnadu. Named after former chief minister of the state Bharat ratna Dr MG Ramachandran this institution is the second largest health science university in India. This university is also the only university in Tamilnadu capable of granting affiliation to new government or self financed medical and paramedical colleges. This university offers graduate, post graduate programs in faculties of medicine, dentistry, indian medicine and homeopathy and allied health science. Post doctoral research programs are offered under medical and dental faculties of study. TDMGRMU offers Master in Medicine (Family Medicine) course through distance education mode. This course is not yet certified by the Medical Council of India (MCI). Known for its quality management system this university was conferred with ISO 9001: 2008 certification. The university has been long planning to set up a hospital at Raj Bhavan.
