The autonomous public – funded institution i.e. Kerala University of Fisheries & Ocean Studies is the renowned university which is located in Kochi, Kerala. This university is set up with the vision to serve as the Flagship University of higher learning through outstanding excellence in teaching, extension, scholarship and research. The Kerala University of Fisheries & Ocean Studies is working on the goal to formulate new courses and curriculum in ocean studies and fisheries in accordance with the technical advances in these respective fields. Along with that, the Kerala University of Fisheries & Ocean Studies is engaged in increasing the entrepreneurship in the ocean and fisheries studies.
The university was established on 20 November 2010. It is the first fishery university in the country. The main headquarters of the Kerala University of Fisheries & Ocean Studies is in Panangad, Kochi. The entire area of this campus is 87.73 acres. A major area of the campus is equipped with the fish ponds and natural mangrove vegetation. The university campus is bordered on the western side by the Vemband backwater system. Kerala University of Fisheries & Ocean Studies acts as the center of excellence having the leading role in human resource development in ocean and fisheries studies.

The Kerala University of Fisheries & Ocean Studies also known as KUFOS is equipped with the quality features which make it one of the leading universities of the state. The key features of the KUFOS are:

Admissions:
Kerala University of Fisheries & Ocean Studies Admission Procedure:
In order to get enrolled in the Kerala University of Fisheries & Ocean Studies, the students should follow the admission procedure prescribed by the university. The university organizes an entrance examination so as to provide enrollment in the offered courses. The aspirants will have to take the entrance exam and need to qualify the same in order to get enrolled in KUFOS.
For Ph.D.:
The admission in the Ph.D. courses will be given through the SAT i.e. School Admission Test conducted by the university. However, NET qualified candidates are exempted from this test.
