Indian Institute of Science Education and Research Thiruvanthapuram is a government established institution dedicated to dissemination of scientific research and scientific education that meets world class standard. IISER TVM awards five year intergrated  Master of Science degrees in Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Biology and inter-disciplinary areas. There are also facilities for doing research in these areas leading to the award of PhD. Located in Thiruvanthapuram this institute has four other institutes situated in  Bhopal, Kolkata, Mohali and Pune.The MS course is research oriented with a focus on basic sciences. The various components of the course are designed in such away that a graduate of the institute is motivated to take up science as a career. Admissions are based on the ranks obtained in IIT-JEE and performance in KVPY. Students from state and central boards can have admissions directly based on the aptitude test conducted by IISERs. Research is an integral part of the institute life with faculty members and students spending significant time on research activities.
