How to apply ?
All applications to degree programmes at York must be made through UCAS (the Universities and Colleges Admissions Service).
01. Applying through your school/college: All UK schools and colleges (and a number of international schools/colleges) are registered with UCAS. You need to complete your application online and submit it through a member of staff at your school/college.
02. Applying independently: If you are not at a school/college registered with UCAS, then you will need to apply online independently. As an independent applicant, you will be responsible for submitting your completed application to UCAS.
03. Applying through an agent (overseas applicants only):If you are an overseas applicant and you are not able to apply through your school or college, you may either apply independently or through an agent.
Important deadlines for application:-
You can apply to UCAS for entry from 1 September
For Medicine at the Hull York Medical School the closing date is 15 October
For all other programmes at York the closing date is 15 January.
You should submit your UCAS entry form as soon as you feel you have made the right choice of programmes and institutions, and you should ensure that your form reaches UCAS by the closing date. All applications received by the published deadline dates will be given equal consideration.

Taught degrees
Students applying for postgraduate taught programmes should normally have obtained at least a second class honours degree (or equivalent). Students applying for postgraduate research programmes should normally have obtained an upper second class honours degree (or equivalent). For research degree applications, please ensure you have consulted the departmental research pages so you can identify research areas of interest and relevant academic supervisors. University of York Infrastructure
The University of York Infrastructure:-
Located within walking distance of the York City Center, the The University of York is divided into two main campuses namely Heslington Campus and King's Manor.
Heslington West campus: This campus is home to more than eight colleges of the University of York and various academic departments. York university is a part of the so-called plateglass universities in the world because of its CLASP system of prefabricated construction. Buildings at the campus are connected by numerous walkways and bridges. Most of the university's arts departments occupy premises in the college buildings, while many of the science departments have their own buildings. Central Hall is a landmark building in Heslington West campus.The campus lake is the largest plastic-bottomed lake in Europe, has attracted a large population of wild and semi-wild waterfowl. The campus is also home to a large rabbit population. The Heslington campus has both indoor and outdoor sports facilities, including an all weather AstroTurf pitch and County standard cricket pitch. A large, tent-like structure allows for indoor sport, gymnastics and dance.
King's Manor: Located about two miles from the main Heslington campus, Kings Manor is home to Archaeology, Medieval Studies and Eighteenth Century Studies departments, and is regularly used by other related departments such as History. It has a public restaurant and is used for art displays. Not far from the King's Manor is the Minster Library, in Dean's Park. Students and staff of the University are able to use the Minster Library, which shares staff and cataloguing with the main University library, and holds the huge collection of early books belonging to the Dean and Chapter of York Minster.

The University of York Faculty past and present consists of academicians, subject scholars, researchers and persons of repute the world over.
The University of York Student Life and Activities:-
University of York Student union (YUSU) is a representative body of students, is a key provider of entertainment and welfare services and operates a range of commercial ventures including a cafe bar, shop and events & marketing department.Non-partisan political societies are well represented at the university, with the York Student Think Tank – which produces research in collaboration with national policy organisations such as IPPR, New Generation Society – an informal debating society, and The York Union Society – which competes in inter-varsity debating tournaments against other universities.
The university is also known for its active print media (Nouse/Lemon Press) and digital media (York Student Television (YSTV)/University Radio York). York Student Cinema (YSC), operating since the late 1960s, show around 30 films a term using a professional 35 mm projector and a full size cinemascope screen in one of the largest rooms on campus.
Every summer term the students take part in the Roses Tournament, a sports competition against Lancaster University.The University of York Music Society and the University of York Drama Society are two of the largest student societies on campus; both now collaborate with the Central Hall Musical Society and Happily Ever After Society who each stage an annual musical.
