Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya (JNV), Karnataka is a co-ed residential school affiliated with the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE), New Delhi. The school was founded in the year 1986 by the Navodaya Vidyalaya Samiti and caters to the needs of about 540 students and 45 staff members.

Although the school is affiliated with CBSE, the state syllabus is followed in classes VI and VII while in classes VIII to XII, CBSE syllabus is followed. It is proposed to start NCERT syllabus right from class VI from the 2016-17 academic session.



Admissions:

Admissions in the Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas take place on the basis of a Selection Test conducted by the CBSE. The test is called the Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya Selection Test (JNVST) it is of non-verbal nature, class neutral and so designed to ensure that children from rural areas are able to compete without facing any disadvantages due to poor communication facilities in rural areas special care is taken to ensure that children from far flung rural areas get admission form free of cost without any problem.

Sufficient publicity is done through Doordarshan, All India Radio, local newspapers, pamphlets, visits of Principals and teachers of Navodaya Vidyalayas to the local schools of the district.

The School provides the education with its best infrastructural facilities like a well-stocked library with age appropriate books, a computer lab and hostel.
