Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya (JNV), Chhattisgarh is a co-educational residential school affiliated with the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE), New Delhi. Established in the year 1988, the school functions under the aegis of Navodaya Vidyalaya Samiti, Bhopal Region.

The school is linked with JNV Ongole, (Andhra Pradesh) under migration scheme and 30 percent students of class VIII from both the Vidyalayas are migrated every year to study in Class IX from Hindi to Non-Hindi speaking area and vice-versa.
 



Admissions:

Admission to Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya are made through national level competitive examination conducted by Central Board of Secondary Education and the children are admitted at class VI level.

Children are also being admitted against the vacant seats in class IX and in class XI also through regional level examination/marks in the previous qualifying examination.

A total of 75% of seats are reserved for rural children and a minimum of 33% of seats are reserved for girls. SC/STs also have due reservations respectively.

The test, called the Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya Selection Test (JNVST) is of nonverbal nature, class neutral and so designed as to ensure that talented children from the rural areas are able to compete without facing any disadvantages and also to ensure that children from far flung rural areas get admission forms free of cost without any problem.

All the children who have studied in and passed from Class V from any recognized school of Shimla District and are between 9 to 13 years of age are eligible to appear JNVST for Class VI.

As per the Scheme, a maximum of 80 students can be admitted in Class VI.
 



Facilities:

The campus facilities include well-equipped laboratories for computer science, math, language, physics, chemistry and physics, a library stocked with more than 8,000 books and references, multimedia classroom, SUPW and music room, multipurpose hall, MI room, dormitories for boys and girls, dining hall and staff quarters.
