DPS, Bhilai is part of the reputed Delhi Public School Society which runs 140 Delhi Public Schools countrywide. DPS, Bhilai was promoted as a joint venture between the DPS society and the Bhilai Steel Plant (BSP) in the year 1985.

The co-educational school enrolls 5,212 students from nursery to class XII, taught by 195 teachers.
