Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) directs Problem Solving Assessment (CBSE- PSA) for students of Classes IX and XI. This student problem-solving ability test assess skills of verbal communication, analytical reasoning, critical & creative thinking, decision making and other generic skills. 

Features of CBSE PSA:- 

a) It is compulsory for all students of classes IX and XI.
b) This problem solving test consists of 60 MCQ of 60 marks
c) The test assesses life skills related to the following three domains: Language conventions, qualitative reasoning and quantitative reasoning.
d) The items included in the test aim to assess students’ ability to process, interpret and use information rather than assessing their prior subject matter knowledge.
e) CBSE PSA 2014 in English or Hindi shall include questions to test grammar, usage, vocabulary in context and passage completion.
f)  The question paper will be billingual. 
g) PSA score will be counted towards FA4 which is 10% of total assessments for class-IX. 
h) This score will be reflected equally in one language (English or Hindi), Mathematics, Science and 
Social Science. Class-XI students will be issued a separate certificate for the same. 
i)Students studying in class X and XII in the current session (who appeared in PSA while studying in classes IX and XI during the previous session) who wish to improve in PSA are 
allowed to do so. Related information may be indicated clearly at the time of submission of list of candidates (LOC) for 2015 annual examination.

CBSE PSA 2016 Registration and Application Form:- 

There will be no separate registration for appearing in PSA. A nominal fee of Rs.100/- per student for appearing in PSA is to be submitted by the school at the time of submission of other details.

CBSE PSA 2016 Syllabus:- 

There is no specific syllabus for PSA test. It will incorporate aspects of the latest skills that lead to success in university studies.

Qualitative – includes topics such as humanities, arts and social science.
Quantitative – includes topics such as mathematics and science.
Language Conventions – includes topics such as grammar, vocabulary, passage completion, etc.

CBSE PSA 2016 Paper Pattern:- 

  • CBSE PSA comprises of a total of 60 items of MCQ type and carries 60 marks.
  • The test assesses life skills related to the following three domains: Language conventions, qualitative reasoning and quantitative reasoning.
  • The assessment in English or Hindi include items to test grammar, usage, vocabulary in context and passage completion.
  • The question paper will be bilingual.


CBSE PSA 2016 Preparation:- 

Basically the question that appears in the CBSE PSA exam  is based upon what you have learned in your previous classes and how you implement that information in your real life situations. The basic requirement for the application of this operation is that one should understand the language and requirements of the question. Students have to just apply their mental ability for calculating the chances of occurrence of a particular sample. The questions are designed in such a way as to check whether a student is able to differentiate between moving right/left or turning right/left on the basis of direction. He/she should not jump to the questions directly without going through the information provided.
