  • Description:-

    Master of Law course offered by Mahatma Gandhi University Distance Education is of two years duration. Those who wants to take admission into this course must have LLB degree.

    ADDITIONAL GUIDELINES FOR LLM:-

    1. Dissertation:  The Dissertation will have to be prepared under the supervision and the guidance of recognized guides.  A list of such guides recognized by the University and available for supervision at different places will be maintained by the University.  Candidates should find out their own guides from the list.  The prescribed fee will have to be paid.  This will be collected by the University and paid to the guide.
    2.Examination:  The examination in the first compulsory papers will be held at the end of 1 ½ years.  The examination in the optional papers will be held at the end of the third year.  The Dissertation should be submitted two months before the date fixed for the commencement of the final examination.
    3. Passing Standard:  A candidate who obtains not less than 40% of the marks in individual papers and not less than 50% of the total marks and not less than 50% in the teaching practicals (if any) will be declared to have passed the Part I of the examination (or LL.M Previous).  A candidate who obtains not less than 40% of the marks in the optional papers and not less than 50% of the total marks and not less than 50% in the Dissertation and Viva-Voce examination will be declared to have passed Part II of the examination (or LL.M Final)
    4. Gradation:  A candidate who obtains not less than sixty percent of the marks in Part I and Part II of the examination put together, and clears all the papers at the first sitting will be declared to have passed the LL.M Degree examination in the First Class.  Those who obtain seventy five percent or more will be declared to have passed with Distinction.  Other successful candidates will be declared to have passed the LL.M Degree examination in the Second Class.  Ranks will be awarded only to candidates who clear the examinations at the first sitting.
    5.  Exemption:   A candidate who obtain not less than 50% of the marks in a paper will be exempted from appearing in that paper at any subsequent examinations.
