In the year 1991, a renowned trust Somnath Educational Trust established a dental college in Karnataka namely, S.B.Patil Institute for Dental Sciences. The college is considered to be one of the best dental institutes in the state of Karnataka that offers excellent job oriented dental courses. The college is affiliated to Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences and is accredited with A.I.C.T.E. (Govt. of India).

S.J.M.Dental College & Hospital offers Bachelor of Dental Surgery, which is a five years full time program. The course also includes one year internship program, wherein the aspirants are trained for achieving some quality practical knowledge in the field of dentistry. Every year, college accepts 60 students for the program of BDS.
