Institute of Hotel Management- Bangalore, formerly food craft institute was set up in the year 1969. The institute got its current name in the year 1983. It is a joint endeavor of the Govt. of Karnataka and the Govt. of India. Ever since its commencement, the college has been on the path of success with its world class education in the field of hotel management. The institute is known for covering almost entire spectrum of education in hospitality administration.  It is affiliated to the National Council for Hotel Management and Catering Technology (NCHMCT), Ministry of Tourism, Government of India.

 At IHM-Bangalore, the aspirants are trained by well qualified professionals having excellent experience in the field of culinary art. The institute offers three years full time course of Bachelor of Science in Hotel Management. During the course, the students are equipped with skills and techniques required for food production and beverage service.  IHM – Bangalore also imparts Post Graduate Diploma in Accommodation operations and Hospitality Administration.

IHM-Bangalore has its own campus near S.J. Polytechnic Road in Shesadri Road, Bangalore. The campus has been accorded with modern infrastructure facilities. It has spacious classrooms with LCD projections and air conditioners. Then there are kitchens, wherein aspirants are trained with food production process and confectionaries productions. It also has two 40 seaters treaining restaurants.  The Institute has a well-equipped automated laundry along with facilities for training students in Guestroom Management.
