Government Medical College was established in the year 1991. It is known for providing the best medical facilities in the country. Today, the college is considered as one of the best centers imparting in depth study of medical field. It is affiliated to the Punjab University and is accredited with Medical Council of India.

The college has gained a wide recognition across the nation for its excellent MBBS program. Recently, it has been awarded from the Government of India for its MBBS program. Along with MBBS, the college also imparts three years Post Graduate program of Doctor of Medicine in Anesthesiology, Ophthalmology, and Pathology.

Facilities:

The institute has its campus in Chandigarh, Punjab. The campus contains the medical college, the hospital, the student and resident hostels, the staff quarters, a couple of banks, playgrounds and sporting fields. While the hospital section of the campus is typically crowded and busy, the residential part of the campus is quiet and calm, punctuated with small parks, hidden statues and sheltered spots. The campus also has a 500 bedded tertiary care hospital, wherein the students are trained to polish their practical skills in health care industry.
