After realizing the much need for a different school for computer science education, University of Hyderabad established the School of Mathematics & Computer - Information Sciences in the year 1983. Later in 1993, it was renamed as the Department of Computer and Information Sciences. The department is renowned for covering the entire spectrum of computing and information science field.

Ever since its inception, the institute has invested heavily in curriculum and pedagogy to equip its students to face the competitive world of software & IT industry. The curriculum is designed to deliver cutting edge application of theory, combined with an industry boundary protocol that ensures that the students are industry-ready. The department offers three years full time post graduate course of MCA. It also imparts two years full time post graduate course of M.Tech with special focus on Information Technology and Computer Science.


Admissions:

M.Tech :-
Admission to M.Tech in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence and Information Technology courses is based on only the GATE scores in Computer Science and Information Technology. No written examination or any interview will be conducted. GATE scores, in order of merit, will be the basis for admission. Division of students between Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence and Information Technology is based on the options they have exercised at the time of applying. Request for change of option will not be entertained. Fees structure for all the three streams of M.Tech. programme is uniform.

 M.C.A :-
Admission to the MCA programme is based on the written test conducted by the University. The written test consists of objective type questions in two parts. Part 'A' and Part 'B'. Part 'A' deals with general mental ability (consisting of items on reasoning, analysis, comprehension and synthesis). Part 'B' deals with mathematical topics such as Sets, Relations, Integration, Differentiation, Analytical Geometry, Trigonometry, Vectors, Matrices, Determinants, Differential Equations, Elementary Probability and Statistics, Number Systems, Data Representation, Algorithms and Flowcharts.



Facilities:

University of Hyderabad is situated at Gachibowli that is 20 kms away from the heart of Hyderabad. It has a sprawling campus of 2300 acres of land, which has been equipped with modern infrastructure like wide air-conditioned and tiered class room with facilities like on line teaching, seminar room and conference hall with audio visual facilities for presentation. The campus has a large sports ground with facilities like cricket, football, basketball and a modern gymnasium. The college also allows separate hostel facility for boys and girls.
