BIT, Sindri was started as College of Mechanical and Electrical Engineering in 1949 at Patna. After one year it was shifted to Sindri with an aim to cater to the needs of the nation for technological manpower development and research programs comparable to the best of the world. The institute is located at a distance of 28 kms from Dhanbad railway station linked by rail as well as road. 
The college today offers B.Tech courses in 10 disciplines of engineering namely Mechanical, Electrical, Metallurgy, Production, Chemical, Electronics & Communications, Civil, Mining, Computer Science, Information technology, having NBA accreditation.
 

Admissions:
Admissions to all B.Tech programs are made through Jharkhand Combined Entrance Competitive Examination (JCECE) and Admissions to M.Tech programs and Ph.D (Engineering) program in various engineering disciplines and interdisciplinary area are made through written test/ interview conducted by the institute.
Applications form will be available on the official website of the college. Selection will be completely done on the merit basis.
 


Facilities:

BIT Sindri is sprawled over on 450 acres of land in the industrial town of Sindri. Each branch has its own building and laboratories and each department has their own libraries and computer facilities. The campus has an auditorium, on-campus hospital, a library, a canteen, a cricket/football playground, a gymnasium, a branch of the State Bank of India with ATM facility, a post office, an STD/ISD phone booth, and a co-operative store.
